Nella prima metà del 1966, dismesso il reparto corse, come buona tradizione degli inglesi per cui niente deve essere sprecato, tutto il materiale racing presente nei magazzini, compresa la GT6R che viene smontata, viene o venduto a privati, o destinato ai concessionari sparsi per tutto il mondo (principalmente Francia, Svizzera, Germania e Stati Uniti) che per loro iniziativa, partecipano in modo semiufficiale a varie competizioni. Dalle ceneri delle ADU1B-2B viene assemblata una Le Mans Spitfire siglata ERW412C, affidata al pilota Bill Bradley, già ufficiale Triumph nel 64-65, con la quale disputo il Campionato Europeo GT nel 1966. Questa Spitfire montava tutto il retrotreno, i cerchi da 5,5" con pneumatici a sezione differenziata front-rear della GT6R. Il motore utilizzato però era il 1300cc. (79X project) da 117 bhp che fu utilizzato per la prima volta sulla AVC654B nell'Alpine Rally del 1965, vincendo la categoria Prototipi.
