WORKS ' STORY (part I°)

Coventry autumn 1965; after the beautiful adventure of the LE MANS Spitfire to the Sarte" of that year, motorized from the fabulous engine from 1147cc, the "Factory" thinks next to like obtaining a result still more prestigious for the Mans of 1966. The more practicable solution, is that one to mount a engine "big power"on the Spitfire chassis, light but at the same time sturdy. After the clamour of the happy results of the Mans, and the optimal performances of the Spitfire from rallye, the "factory" ago counts it of the “remained Works Car” in the atelier; ADU1B and ADU2B have gone destroyed in incidents, the 3B sold in France, 4B in Suisse. Works rallye car remain available 5B (the 6B destroyed, the 7B sold in France, 8B in Japan and the AVC654B in France). Line of departure then will be the ADU5B in configuration “Tour de France”, with body shell in steel, door panels and rear wings in alluminum. The "probable" bonnet Le Mans style in alluminum in the part centers them and glass-reinforced fiber in the front wings.
